The loss of lives due to consumption of spurious liquor, in Villupuram and Chengalpattu Districts is not something that can be easily digested, just by offering condolences to the families.
Horrific incidents such as this have occurred in the past and we have seen immediate action from the officials, only to be slackened in a few days' time. This time, the government has come down strongly on TN police, those who make spurious liquor, those who sell it and those who help in selling it. We must ensure that the pace at which this is being tackled doesn't slacken. Makkal Needhi Maiam demands a Thamizhnadu, free of spurious liquor.
