The shocking news that 9 people have died in an explosion at a private firecracker warehouse in Krishnagiri Pazhayapettai gives great pain and grief. The explosion has also injured many!
We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved families . Proper treatment must be given to the injured. We wish them a speedy recovery.. The families of the deceased and the injured must be compensated adequately.
A few houses close to the warehouse have been gutted and collapsed. Many of those living in these houses have been severely injured. The primary question of how a firecracker warehouse was built in a residential area arises. How was permission granted to establish a firecracker warehouse in a residential locality?
The Government of Tamil Nadu should not grant permission to set up warehouses or factories for the manufacture of firecrackers and explosives in residential areas and high traffic areas.
Such warehouses across the state should be identified and adequate security arrangements must be put in place .Makkal Needhi Maiam urges the Tamil Nadu government to disband such structures immediately .
The TN government must conduct a detailed investigation and take strict action immediately
